Kawaii Doyoubi – Lesson 7 – Colors Pt. 1
It’s been a while Mina. As I promised things are slowly returning to normal, including the weekly dose of Japanese.
There are two kinds of words for colors: Adjectives and nouns. We will do the first group today.
Group 1: い – Adjectives
|Romaji||Kanji||Hiragana||Insert – い|
These words become nouns without the い (I [sounds like e] – character).
Examples (from book). Colors are bold. Adjective modifiers are bold and red. Other words will remain black, however the romaji example will match the hiragana characters by colors so the break down can be interpreted easier.
赤いかばん – red bag
Akai kaban – red bag
To further understand colors in Japanese, below are images matching the color written in romaji, kanji, and it pronunciation.
(Keizoku wa chikara nari)
Literally: Continuance (also) is power/strength.
Meaning: Continuing on after a setback is its own kind of strength. Perseverance is power.
